Chat APIs

Use the Seamly Chat APIs to connect conversations to signed-in users or build a custom chat interface for your website or mobile app.

You can use these capabilities together: build your client with the Channel API and add authenticated conversations to associate chats with users your platform recognises.

Connect conversations to signed-in users

Use authenticated conversations to let users continue earlier conversations or receive responses based on information your platform already knows.

Your application provides a token. Seamly sends it to an endpoint you implement to validate it. Your response can include a user identifier and data to store in the conversation.

Authenticated conversations work with both the Seamly Web-UI and custom clients built with the Channel API.

Build your own chat interface

Use the Channel API to build and style a chat client for your website or native app when the Seamly Web-UI and its SDK do not meet your needs.

You build the interface, while Seamly connects the conversation to the configured bot or live chat service. Use REST requests to create and retrieve conversations, and a WebSocket connection to exchange messages and receive updates.

The Conversation lifecycle, Websocket messages, and Features guides explain how to implement conversations and support features such as file uploads, translations, and typing indicators.

Before you start

Review the requirements of your chosen API and ask your Seamly contact to arrange access. Credentials, authentication, and configuration differ between APIs.
